Welcome!!

Hi All!

I struggle with posting this blog internally to our corporate site or publicly. Many colleagues at work ask me tons of questions about existing Oracle Applications functionality. We, as consultants, are so scattered across the country and the world, many of us are struggling with implementation projects and don’t have the time to punch out to our internal network other than grabbing their email. We do, however, have network access, which is causing me to push this out to my own personal site. In any event, I don’t think anyone really is going to read this anyway and I’ll just pass this along to those that are actually interested to learn more and need more detailed information

“More detailed information on what?” you may ask. Well, for over the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated my work life to knowing, and understanding, to the best of my ability, Oracle Applications. 20120420-001516.jpgI just had dinner with my old boss when I was with Oracle and he and I reminisced about the day he got the requisition approval to ship to me 30 + Oracle User Guides and Technical Reference Manuals. (That was before PDFs were widely circulated….and yes…I’m that old…) He was shocked and asked me, “Are you really going to read all of those manuals?” and I responded, “I think so…How else am I going to understand, in detail, the applications?” And I did. I moved on do doing some work in Europe and took on a personal project to install my own copy of Oracle Applications (11i at the time). And I did. I learned about how to patch…the differences between the application layer and database layer….and as a by product really got to understand the underpinnings of all of the applications.

So during this whole time Oracle was snapping up PeopleSoft, Siebel, Sun, Hyperion, and a whole bunch of other companies and decided to take the best of breed to deliver a fused set of applications and decided to call it…you guessed it Fusion.

I’m watching all of this happen before my eyes and I’m thinking, “I have to do this all over again!” And I will!

So, over the next year, I hope to bring you my journey into this new world of Fusion. Stay tuned!

Jason
